Cutting Board Resurfacing

Over time, wooden cutting boards can develop deep cuts, scratches, and stains, which not only affect their appearance but also their functionality and hygiene. Resurfacing your cutting board restores its smoothness, removes knife marks, and revives its natural beauty, extending its lifespan.

We will:

  1. Clean Thoroughly: washing your cutting board with warm, soapy water. Rinse and dry completely.

  2. Sand the Surface: Use coarse-grit sandpaper (around 80 grit) to remove deep scratches and any damaged wood. Follow this with medium-grit (120-150 grit) and finish with fine-grit (220 grit) sandpaper for a smooth surface. Sand evenly along the grain of the wood.

  3. Remove Dust: Wipe the board thoroughly with a damp cloth or tack cloth to remove all sanding dust. Allow it to dry.

  4. Condition the Wood: Apply a generous coat of food-safe mineral oil or a specialized cutting board oil. Let it soak in overnight.

  5. Seal the Surface: For added protection, apply a beeswax and mineral oil mixture or a cutting board conditioner to seal and enhance the finish.

  6. Regular Maintenance: To keep your board in top condition, oil it regularly after cleaning and avoid soaking it in water.

Resurfacing is a simple way to maintain the beauty and lifespan of your wooden cutting board, ensuring it remains a cherished and functional piece in your kitchen.
